12.21.2016 - Celebration
December tends to be a huge month for us here when it comes to birthdays. Yesterday we celebrated Grandad's 81st birthday *Glassdaddy*, my youngest turned twenty on the 17th and my eldest will be 26 on Christmas day! That coupled with all the festivities that normally occur - leaves us all gasping for air come the new year!
We love to cook, and being together is an excuse to celebrate that way... my kitchen has an enormous island and we all take a station around it, last night we made a good start on Italian Strufoli... which only was completed today... and even so - really needs to sit and absorb the honey for a good few days before it's extra-super-good!
The cake, above, is a lemon bundt cake from Cook's... and it was nice and lemony... the candles were the big hit though. Sparkling candles that kept re-lighting! evil grin. I hope everyone is enjoying preparing for the holidays and is looking forward to gathering around and doing whatever it is that draws your family close. much love, Jill
