Mom always said - “Good Better Best, never let it rest - until your good is better - and your better is best”
Funny how things like that just stick in your brain. I’ve been making the slender tube beads for a few months now - and have enjoyed making long necklaces with these beads. While they are glorious - and elegant… they do come with some glassy weight - as there seem to be about 25 beads per necklace.
So - last week I decided to slenderize the tubes to be around the diameter of a pencil… yes - and they’re glorious.
These beads are ideal for shorter necklaces and bracelets. I’ve made each set with a variety of lengths - as it’s always nice to have the beads gently wrap around your wrist or make a gentle curve at the base of the necklace. I like user friendly beads, can you tell?
I also find that in the summertime - once the glass warms to body temperature - these roll nicely and if there were ever a ‘cool’ piece of jewelry - this would be it!
This shorter necklace is strung on cording - but connects to about 9” of handmade silver elongated loop chain, with a handmade toggle and a 3/8” dangling round bead of the pinky nailhead to weight the chain at the base of your neck. I’ve used a variety of techniques and textures to add interest to each set - and, of course, they go well with many coordinating earrings on my website. Fun… summertime smiles, Jill
Thank you Kathryn for modeling your necklace, it looks beautiful. : )
